Charles Liu, PhD, MD
Dr. Charles Liu is an affiliated surgeon at Center Neurorestoration.
He is Professor at the University of Southern California, Keck School of Medicine and Viterbi School of Engineering. He has academic affiliations with the California Institute of Technology and University of California, Irvine. He is Director of the USC Neurorestoration Center.
He obtained his Bachelors of Science at the University of Michigan and went on to obtain a PhD in Chemical Engineering at Rice University. He attended Yale University School of Medicine and then went on to complete residency training in neurosurgery at the University of Southern California. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Neurological Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons. He is a member of numerous professional societies around the world including the Neurosurgical Society of America, the Society of University Neurosurgeons and the Biomedical Engineering Society.
Dr. Liu's clinical interests and expertise encompass a broad range of the neurosurgical practice and include cerebrovascular disease, skull base surgery, neurotrauma, epilepsy and restorative techniques including brain machine interface, non-invasive neuromodulation and stem cell therapies.
He is the recipient of multiple grants from the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, the Rudolph Schulte Foundation and others. He has authored more than 100 scientific publications.
